How to Replace the Compaq V Series V3200 Keyboard
The Compaq V3200 is a laptop computer equipped with a full-size Laptop Keyboard . Because a full-size keyboard makes it comfortable for typing, you may have spent a great deal of time typing with your Compaq V3200 since you have owned it. Over time, wear and tear on a laptop keyboard can cause its performance to degrade. However, you do not need to replace the entire computer to improve the performance of the keyboard. You can replace your Compaq V Series V3200 Keyboard if it no longer performs acceptably and you are not yet ready to replace the computer.
Turn the Compaq V Series V3200 completely off. Take the battery pack out of the computer, and turn it over so that the bottom faces you.Unscrew the three black Phillips-head screws on the bottom of the Compaq V3200 . These screws lock the keyboard to the body of the computer. They are captive screws, which means that you cannot completely remove them from the computer. Flip the Compaq V3200 over and open the computer when you are finished. If you wish, you can place a soft cloth over the screen to protect it.Locate the four black plastic locking tabs along the top row of the keyboard, between the “F” keys. Push each locking tab toward the bottom of the Compaq Keyboard .
Lift the keyboard assembly out of the Compaq V3200 , and place it face-down over the palm rest.
Open the locking mechanism for the keyboard cable with your thumbnail, and ease the keyboard cable out of the logic board connector. Set the keyboard aside.
Place the cable for the new Compaq V Series Keyboard into the connector, and close the locking mechanism.
Lower the keyboard into the body of the Compaq V3200 , and push the four black plastic locking tabs toward the screen. Close the screen and flip the computer over.
Tighten the three Phillips-head screws on the bottom of the Compaq Keyboard in place.
