How to Replace Gateway M-6000 T-6000 Keyboard

This guide should work on Gateway M & T series laptop. In this Guide, the actual laptop is Gateway M-6848.

Fist of all, turn off your Gateway M-6000 T-6000, and disconnect the adapter and remove the Gateway laptop battery.

1. Remove one Gateway Laptop Keyboard securing screw on the bottom.



2. Carefully lift up one side of the keyboard cover with a small flat head screwdriver.


3. Continue separating it from the laptop base with your fingers.
Be careful, there will be a cable connecting the LED board and motherboard under the cover.



4. Remove two screws securing the Gateway M-6000 T-6000 keyboard.



5. Lift up the Gateway Laptop Keyboard and remove it from the laptop base.


6. Now you can access the keyboard cable connector on the motherboard.
You’ll have to unlock the connector before disconnecting the cable and removing the keyboard.



7. In order to unlock the Gateway Laptop Keyboard connector carefully move the locking clip about 2 millimeters to the direction shown by two arrows.



8. Now you can pull the cable from the connector and remove the Gateway M-6000 T-6000 keyboard.
